Betances started off with his studies in the electrical field in Queens, NY. He attended Thomas Edison Vocational High School where he learned Electrical History, Electrical Theory, how to use the NEC, and the NFPA. This knowledge led him to have a full range of understanding combined with the field and on the job training greatly helped him to achieve a certification with the NCCER.

Starting his career off as an Electrical Helper, he continued to apply what he learned and worked towards an Electrical Mechanic position. Then to Electrical Journeyman where he received his first State License, Unlimited Electrical Journeyman for the State of Connecticut and New York. Shortly after he gained his Unlimited Electrical Contractor License from the Connecticut State DCP.
